NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Ty Proffitt scored 18 points and Morehead State held off Norfolk State 75-69 in a nonconference game Tuesday night, snapping the Spartans' eight-game winning streak.

The Eagles (11-11) knocked down their first six 3-point attempts and finished 11 of 18 from long range, with Proffitt hitting 4 of 5 and Marsell Holden 4 of 7.

Norfolk State (15-6) led by nine before Morehead State grabbed the momentum and took a 39-31 advantage into halftime.

After the Spartans closed to 67-66 with 3 minutes left, Proffitt made two free throws, Milton Chavis dunked and Angelo Warner added two foul shots for a seven-point cushion.

Chris McEachin, who led Norfolk State with 19 points, hit a 3-pointer to make it 73-69, then Warner's two free throws sealed the win.

Drew Kelly added 15 points for Morehead State and Warner recorded a career-best 12 rebounds

The Eagles posted a 33-24 rebounding advantage.
