Pro Bowl faces nasty weather report, but starts on time

The SportsXchange

Despite a report of bad weather, Sunday's Pro Bowl began on time.

Hours before kickoff of the game, the National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning for the entire island of Oahu, including the site of the game in Honolulu.

Winds picked up in the morning and a cold front with showers and heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms are expected this afternoon.

The flash-flood warning is in effect through Monday afternoon.

Weather may affect the level of play and effort as there could be a greater risk of injury if the weather is bad. The future of the game could be on the line as well. However, the game began at the scheduled starting time of 6 p.m. ET.

"This is an important event for the NFL and for the players," AFC quarterback Peyton Manning said after practice on Friday via NFL.com. "The commissioner's made it clear that he's making considerations to cancel it. And I think it's important to have more of a quality game."
