When you look at the list of guys that are participating in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the WWE Championship contract briefcase, it is fairly impressive. John Cena, Chris Jericho, The Big Show and Kane have all been at or near the top of the wrestling world for a very long time. One of them, assuming nobody else is added, will walk away with a chance to become WWE Champion once again. Which of them makes the most sense? As a huge WWE fan, I have some pretty pointed opinions I would like to share about this.
The case for or against John Cena
First of all, I am no John Cena hater. Many folks really dislike this guy but I am not among them. I think Cena has poured his heart and soul into this business and deserves all the success in the world. That said, he is the least interesting of the group to win this match in my opinion. The simple reason why is because it is exactly what everyone is expecting. Super Cena has never competed in a Money in the Bank match, so he simply has to win under normal WWE Universe rules. I am praying they break those rules just once. Cena versus Punk has been done already and Cena and Bryan holds no interest for me either.
The case for or against The Big Show
The Big Show has always been one of those guys that I felt was completely impossible to book correctly. If they book him like Andre the Giant, the guy would never lose and become extremely stale. Those days of being totally unbeatable simply can't work in today's WWE. That said, they have taken Show the opposite direction. He has been booked to lose so often, and even made to cry on multiple occasions, that believing him as a heel is simply impossible now. The Big Show is capable of some awesome spots for the ladder match, but please don't have him win the match. I really like Big Show, but I am not feeling him as a monster heel at all.
The case for or against Kane
There is a growing contingency that is wanting to see Kane get a nice final run before he gets out of the business and I would have no problems with it. Kane needs to grow as a character, however to do it. He needs to be capable of doing more than simply coming into the ring and destroying folks. That is not what a WWE Champion does as a rule. Kane is capable of cutting good promos if the WWE brass will let him. That must happen for this to work.
The case for or against Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho is the reason the Money in the Bank ladder matches even exist and he never has been truly given the chance to shine with it. Chris Jericho needs to win this match and win his title back. If anyone is going to beat C.M. Punk for that belt, it should be Jericho. He completely built Punk up in their previous feud and it needs to come full circle. Give Jericho one last run, WWE. It would truly be epic.
