PRESS BOX: Warriors' Curry diagnosed with bone bruise
Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry suffered a left ankle bone bruise during Wednesday night's game, an MRI conducted Thursday in Minnesota confirmed.
Curry is listed as day to day. The Warriors play the Spurs at San Antonio on Friday night.
Curry injured his left foot in the Warriors' 106-93 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Before leaving the game in the third quarter, Curry had just five points on 2-of-8 shooting from the field to go along with seven assists. He sat out the fourth quarter.
---Atlanta Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder was suspended for one game without pay for striking Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins in the groin, the NBA announced Thursday.
The incident occurred with 9:54 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Hawks' 105-100 win over the Kings on Tuesday.
Schroder will serve his suspension Thursday night when the Hawks visit the Denver Nuggets.

Carl Pelini wants his job back as Florida Atlantic's football coach. Pelini contends that he was forced to resign from his job last week after being falsely accused of illegal drug use and is pursuing reinstatement.
Pelini said in an interview with ESPN on Thursday that he did not admit to using drugs -- as the university suggested -- when his resignation was announced.
Pelini and Florida Atlantic athletic director Patrick Chun dispute whether the former coach was offered a drug test. Furthermore, Pelini argued that he was not given written notice and a 30-day investigation period, as stipulated by his contract, after the allegations were made.
Pelini told ESPN that Chun said his "denial denial of illegal drug use was irrelevant because I was being relieved of my duties for failure to supervise my staff."
In the first game without Pelini on the sideline, the Owls (3-6) defeated Tulane 34-17 last Saturday.

The North Carolina Tar Heels will open their season without junior guard P.J. Hairston and senior guard Leslie McDonald due to NCAA eligibility concerns, the school announced Thursday.
The Tar Heels' first game is Friday against Oakland.
Coach Roy Williams had suspended Hairston earlier this year after a series of incidents in which Hairston faced numerous charges including marijuana possession, driving without a license, speeding and careless and reckless driving. Hairston also has been linked to a convicted felon who is facing drug and gun charges, raising the possibility of an improper benefits violation.
McDonald's issues are apparently because a company called Iceberg Guards advertised McDonald as a user of its mouth guards, which may violate NCAA bylaws.
---Louisville Cardinals forward Luke Hancock will miss Saturday's season opener against Charleston because of a nagging Achilles injury, coach Rick Pitino said Thursday.
Pitino told ESPN.com that the 6-foot-5 senior, who was the Most Outstanding Player in last season's Final Four, has yet to practice. Pitino said he is not certain when Hancock will return to the court.

The Nashville Predators recalled forward Taylor Beck and sent forward Filip Forsberg to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League, the team announced Thursday.
Forsberg had one goal and five points in 11 games for the Predators but played 5:07 and 6:42 respectively in the past two games. The Admirals have three games in three days coming up and Nashville would like Forsberg, the No. 11 pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, to see more ice time.
Beck, 22, has posted five points in eight games for Milwaukee, helping the Admirals to a 6-0-2 record. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound right wing saw his first NHL action with Nashville a season ago, and had seven points in 16 games.
---The Phoenix Coyotes assigned forward Andy Miele to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League, the team announced Thursday.
Miele had two assists and five penalty minutes in four games with the Coyotes this season. He has five goals and three assists in six games for Portland.
