Antolin Alcaraz incurred a red card in the League Cup victory over Nottingham Forest and is suspended. Maynor Figueroa is set to move to the left of a back three in his absence, with Jean Beausejour or Ronnie Stam potential replacements at left wing back.

Attacking trio Shaun Maloney, Franco Di Santo, and the newly signed Arouna Kone led the team to victory at Southampton last week, but striker Mauro Boselli and attacking midfielder Jordi Gomez each scored in the midweek victory and could feature.

Dean Whitehead is back in contention for Stoke City after suspension and could return in place of Geoff Cameron in central midfield.

Matthew Etherington missed last week’s match against Arsenal through injury but is also in line to return, but Jermaine Pennant could continue on the right wing in his place opposite Michael Kightly on the left.
