Premier League: 5 players who can take the League by storm this season

Yahoo Sport's Liam Canning takes a look at 5 new Premier League players that are ready to take the league by storm.

Premier League: 5 players who can take the League by storm this season

Álvaro Negredo – Middlesbrough

Technically not his first time in the Premier League, but Negredo’s recent arrival to Middlesbrough was somewhat of a surprise. The Spanish international struggled with game time at Manchester City and was sold to Valencia, in which things didn’t get any brighter. Now he’s returned to England in the hope of reclaiming his old, distant form of his time in Sevilla.

Negredo’s a clinical and intelligent striker providing he’s afforded precious game time. At Boro, the ex-City man will spearhead the team and should find the net on a more regular basis. Every striker lives off confidence, and with being the main man under Aitor Karanka, that should give him the required boost.

Eric Bailly – Manchester United

An intersting purchase under José Mourinho, which happened to be his very first at Manchester United. Bailly was under the radar for most of the club’s fans, who would’ve automatically gone for a player like Raphaël Varane.

However, it’s evident to see the amount of trust the Portuguese manager has in the central defender, given he’s played the most amount of minutes in this new era at United. Without blowing his trumpet and talking him up too much, he has shades of the no-nonsense defending that Nemanja Vidić possessed. He’s a brute force and looks like he already has the authority of the Red Devils’s defence.

Viktor Fischer – Middlesbrough

Another player from Middlesbrough - their recruitment has been superb this summer. One of the most highly-rated young players in Europe, with a vast amount of clubs queuing up in order to sign him, Fischer excelled for Ajax in the Eredivisie in the past two seasons.

Ajax legend Sjaak Swart recently compared Fischer to Dennis Bergkamp, “He is a true Ajax footballer, with beautiful moves, a through ball, an unexpected turn, a little Bergkamp-like,” which is some praise. He’s had injury problems in the past, but providing he can stay fit and healthy, the Danish playmaker is one of the most exciting prospects in the Premier League.

Leroy Sané – Manchester City

Another young player that had a variety of top European clubs chasing him. Sané is a full German international and caught the eye of scouts when at Hoffenheim. In every team, you need a player that can transition the play from defence into attack, and Sané is that player.

When at the edge of his own area, the midfielder will bring the ball out and use his impeccable dribbling skills to entice the remaining defenders to him; with his football intelligence, for him, it’s very easy to either make the important pass or take them on. He’s a smart footballer which is to no surprise given Pep Guardiola’s just signed him. He needs to work on his tactical discipline, but Sané’s already an old head on a young man’s shoulders.

Ahmed Musa – Leicester City

As shown last year in the Champions League against Manchester United, Ahmed Musa is an incredibly tricky, slight forward. He’s a striker that lives off the space in-front of him, darting in-between the two central defenders causing absolute havoc. With the ball at his feet, in some ways, he’s a lot of Mahrez - tricky, mesmerising footwork, can spin you inside and out and a wicked turn of pace.

Forming a partnership with Jamie Vardy is daunting for any centre-back when coming up against them. If Musa can find consistency to his game, he could well be the bargain of the season at only £15m.
