PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Kevin Baily scored 22 points to lead Portland to an 86-69 win over San Jose State Wednesday night.
Portland (4-3) took a four-point lead into the break but quickly pushed that lead to 12 to open the half. San Jose State (2-5) would never get closer than 7 points for the rest of the game. Portland's efficient shooting allowed them to pull away as the game stretched on.
The Pilots shot a blistering 62.5 percent in the second half while holding San Diego State to 32.3 percent. Portland also controlled the paint, outscoring San Jose State by a 40-22 margin.
Ryan Nicholas added 11 points for Portland to go with his game-high 14 rebounds. Thomas van der Mars also scored 11.
Rashad Muhammad was a bright spot for San Diego State, scoring 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Jaleel Williams scored 11 point but only hit 4 of 13.
