Nashville Predators general manager David Poile, the architect of the American Olympic team, will not travel to Sochi to see the U.S. team compete for a medal because of facial injuries suffered last week. Poile had surgery after taking a puck to the face during a morning skate last Thursday. At that time he said he would not travel to Sochi with Team USA as planned but hoped to join the team later in the week. Now that will not happen either. "Huge disappointment," said American head coach Dan Bylsma, according to ProHockeyTalk.com. Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Ray Shero, who worked with Poile in selecting the American team, will serve as Team USA's general manger in Sochi in Poile's absence. According to the Predators' twitter account, Poile is resting comfortably in Nashville after having two procedures on Friday on his nose and eye areas.
