Yahoo Sports

Mystery surrounded David Beckham on Thursday after the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder missed team training three days before the MLS Cup final.

Reports emerged that Beckham had strained his hamstring, but then Galaxy coach Bruce Arena claimed the England midfielder was merely suffering from a cold.

The Beckham issue kicks off this week’s Martin Rogers Yahoo! Soccer Podcast, in conjunction with World Football Daily, with the Galaxy star preparing for what is likely his final game in MLS.

Next on the agenda is a special discussion, "The State of MLS," where a panel of experts weigh in on the overall health of the game in North America.

Former New England Revolution striker and ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman spoke of the value of soccer-specific stadiums in growing the sport, while MLS senior vice president Nelson Rodriguez addressed the challenges facing the league and how it plans to cope.

Oliver Holt, chief sports writer of the Daily Mirror in London, analyzes whether Beckham is done in Tinseltown or will be back for one final season. MLSsoccer.com editor-in-chief and former professional player Greg Lalas takes a look at the recently inked NBC television deal and the impact it will have in coming years.

Finally, Fox Soccer expert Bobby MacMahon draws on three decades of North American experience to give his views on the evolution of soccer in the U.S. and where it's headed.

Host Rogers discusses the Sepp Blatter controversy, in which the FIFA president was heavily criticized over inflammatory comments regarding racism this week. France World Cup winner Patrick Vieira, a guest this week on World Football Daily, also takes Blatter to task.

The show ends with co-host Sophie Nicolaou and Rogers dissecting the week's big storylines and the weekend's biggest games for a predictions segment.
