Podcast: Donovan's Everton return could be bumpy

Galaxy star Landon Donovan started his second loan stint with Everton on Jan. 4

With a loan stint that will take him back to English Premier League club Everton for two months, Landon Donovan is hoping for a repeat of the successful spell he enjoyed in 2010.

Donovan, arguably the United States' best player, performed strongly while at Everton leading up to the last World Cup and believes he can have a similar impact during this brief break from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

However, the current version of Everton is not the same one he left two years ago, with form and confidence low, and the club's fans turning their back on the ownership and staying away from Goodison Park.

The task facing Everton is the main topic of this week's Yahoo! Soccer Podcast, in conjunction with World Football Daily.

I am joined by Rory Smith of The Times newspaper and Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated to provide English and American viewpoints of Donovan's decision to again cross the Atlantic.

Steve Tongue of the Independent also drops by to discuss the problems at Manchester United, following the club's second straight defeat this week and its defensive deficiencies.

The possibility of tech giant Apple joining the bidding for the next round of EPL television rights is also discussed, with the man who broke the story, Charles Sale of the Daily Mail, joining the show to share the latest news.

Finally, World Football Daily co-host Sophie Nicolaou and I play our regular games of Agree or Disagree, Teacher's Marks and Premier Predictions to round out the show.
