Beautiful women who can fight and pose nude--some women do have it all. Following fast on the heels of Strikeforce MMA champion, Ronda Rousey--who was recently featured posing nearly nude on the cover of "ESPN the Body Issue"--another beautiful athlete is featured on the cover of a magazine appealing to a male audience, "Playboy Mexico".
Mariana Anastasia Juarez is a 32-year-old WBC champion boxer. "Pretty, talented, feisty -- Mari is true knockout." source with photo of the "Playboy Mexico" August cover.
With women boxing in the Olympics for the first time in London 2012, the Mexican edition of Playboy magazine decided that now is the perfect time to feature a beautiful, Latina boxer, whose nickname is "Barbie" on their August cover.
Mariana "la Barby" Juarez
Listed as 5'5", Mariana Juarez is a WBC champion flyweight listed first on BoxRec's roster of 138 female boxers. Her record stands at 35 wins with 5 losses. Mariana has knocked out 16 of her opponents.
Mariana has been keeping herself busy with her photo shoot for Playboy and training for her fight at 112 pounds with Japanese fighter, Shindo Go. That fight took place on July 14th. Here is the full fight video.
From the video description: "At times, I had to deal with head butts and her using elbows during the fight," Juarez told the assembled media in Spanish after the fight. "Her trunks were really high, so I couldn't throw as much to the body as much as I wanted. That had happened in my three previous fights. However, we had to fight patiently and calmly. I used my intelligence and I think my experience was what helped us win this fight."
I didn't realize that wearing your trunks high would deter a fighter from landing body shots. Seems like Mariana needs to find a solution to that problem since she said that it's happened three times already.
But the fight ended well with a split decision favoring Playboy's choice for their cover girl, Mariana "la Barby" Juarez--allowing her to retain her WBC belt.
