Phillies reach deal with Frandsen

The Philadelphia Phillies avoided arbitration by reaching agreement with infielder Kevin Frandsen on a one-year, $900,000 contract, MLB.com reported Monday.

The deal includes performance bonuses.

Frandsen, 31, was eligible for arbitration after hitting .234 with five home runs in 2013.

He made starts at first base, second base and this base this past season, and figures to be a utility infielder in 2014.
