The Philadelphia Phillies announced Saturday that catcher Carlos Ruiz was placed on the 15-day disabled list with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. An MRI revealed a partial tear in the foot and he is expected to miss four to six weeks, according to MLB.com. Brian Schneider and Erik Kratz will handle the catching duties for at least the next month. The Phillies recalled first baseman Hector Luna from Class AAA Lehigh Valley to take Ruiz's spot on the roster. Ruiz was having his best season as he was hitting .335 with 28 doubles and career highs with 14 home runs and 58 RBI. Ruiz will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
