Led by a double from Freddy Adu, the Philadelphia Union beat the Houston Dynamo 3-1 at home.
In the 10th minute, Tally Hall pulled off an impressive double save to keep the scores level early. Hall again pulled off a double save when Kofi Sarkodie twice deflected a Raymon Gaddis cross on his own net. However, this time, Freddy Adu picked up the loose ball and nutmegged Sarkodie with a sneaky right-footed shot to open the scoring.
Sarkodie went some way toward redeeming himself by curling in the cross which Will Bruin held up and fed to Oscar Boniek García. Garcia thrashed a one-time shot in off the far post to equalize.
Five minutes into the second half, Adu once again put Philly ahead, this time from the penalty spot.
Shortly after, Adu limped out of the game with an injury, leaving his strike partner Josué Martinez to cap off the scoring. Amobi Okugo smacked a volley back toward the goal after a corner, and it fell kindly to Martinez, who scrapped the ball over the line.
Brad Davis cracked a shot off the crossbeam in the dying minutes, but the score finished 3-1.
