Who would ever imagined the Cleveland Browns would be heading into week three of preseason games with an undefeated 2-0 record? While preseason games have no significance it is still a boost of confidence for a team that is expected to underperform on the field this season.
The Browns will play host to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, August 24, which will also serve as a preview for the first game of the regular season on Sunday, September 9 when the two teams meet again. I would not expect too much elaborate play calling or lengthy time on the field by the starters from either team in this contest.
The Eagles will be without their starting quarterback Michael Vick who is sidelined with a rib injury while Cleveland remains without their featured running back Trent Richardson. Both are expected to be in action come the start of the regular season.
Cleveland enters the contest with a 2-0 preseason record after defeating the Detroit Lions by the score of 19-17 on Friday, August 10 and the Green Bay Packers by the score of 35-10 on Thursday, August 16.
Philadelphia enters the contest with a 2-0 preseason record after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers by the score of 24-23 on Thursday, August 9 and the New England Patriots by the score of 27-17 on Monday, August 20.
