Manchester United defender Phil Jones is aiming for a spot at Euro 2012 with England or, failing that, the London Olympics this summer.
An impressive first season at United since he joined from Blackburn Rovers last year has seen Jones receive international recognition, where he has made four appearances for the Three Lions.
"There are two massive competitions coming up at the end of the season, hopefully I can be part of one of them," Jones told reporters.
The 20-year-old admitted he was unsure if he would be ready for the step up when he joined the Red Devils in the summer but insists he is happy with how the campaign has gone.
"If anyone had told me at the start of the season I would have made 40 appearances for Manchester United, I would have snapped their hands off. It is incredible," Jones enthused. "I didn't expect it this season but it all started off really well. Perhaps I picked up a few injuries at the wrong time because at the back end of the season I couldn't really get my match fitness back.
"But now I feel good, fit and fresh and hopefully I can finish the season strongly."
