Peyton Manning Gets His First Coaching Gig — on ‘Modern Family’

Future NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning is constantly on TV selling stuff, but Wednesday night he was on TV just for fun. Peyton was on Modern Family as Coach Gary, who was teaching Jay and Gloria’s kid, Joe, how to throw a baseball. It turned out, though, that Gloria had him doing much more than just coaching.

Jay was shocked to find Gary in his kitchen fixing a drawer, and when Gary admitted that he also cleaned the gutters, he added, “It really wasn’t a problem. I’m not afraid of heights, and I’ve got big hands.”

Jay felt as though Gary was pushing his way into the family, but Gary was really just trying to impress Jay. Gary said, “I gotta tell you, Jay, I’m over the whole sports thing,” and then told Jay that he wanted to start his own business selling prefab gazebos and sheds. Since Jay made a fortune selling closets, it made sense that Gary would want Jay to mentor him because, as Gary put it, “After all, what’s a gazebo but…” and they simultaneously finished the sentence with, “an outdoor closet!”

In the end, Gary got back to doing what he does best: appearing in a commercial. In the ad, Gary said, “Call Gary’s Gazebos and Sheds because here we only do one thing: Sell, install, and service gazebos and sheds.”

Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC. Watch clips and full episodes of Modern Family for free on Yahoo View.
