CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) -- Jabari Peters scored 16 points and Sam Houston State was 9 of 14 from 3-point range in a 75-49 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the Corpus Christi Challenge on Friday.
Sam Houston State (5-2) pulled away in middle of the second half when Peters made two 3-pointers to highlight an 8-0 run. It gave the Bearkats a 59-41 lead with 7:53 to play.
James Thomas had 11 points and Kaheem Ransom, and Nathaniel Mason each added 10 for the Bearkats. Ransom also had seven rebounds and five assists.
Ghiavonni Robinson had 16 points for Pine Bluff (2-5). The Golden Lions had 14 offensive rebounds, but also had 20 turnovers and shot only 13 of 43 from the field.
Sam Houston State will face Liberty in the final day of the tournament on Saturday while Arkansas-Pine Bluff will play Hampton.
