Penguins sign D Scuderi

The Pittsburgh Penguins signed free-agent defenseman Rob Scuderi to a four-year contract worth $3.375 million per year, NHL.com reported Friday.

Scuderi returns to the Penguins after spending the past four years with the Los Angeles Kings. He was Pittsburgh's fifth-round draft pick in 1998 and played five seasons for the Pens.

Scuderi, 34, had 12 points in 48 games last season, averaging 21:47 per game. He has 86 points and a plus-17 rating over 12 seasons.
