Paul and Griffin combine for 53, Clippers beat Pistons

Chris Paul scored 28 points and added 15 assists, while Blake Griffin added 25 points and 7 rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a victory over the Detroit Pistons, 112-103. The Clippers shot really well from the field in this one, going 45-83 (54.2%). Los Angeles (49-21) has now won nine of their last 10 games.

Paul finished 10-15 from the field (3-6 on 3-pointers) and 5-5 from the free throw line, in a strong performance. He also tallied 6 steals and 4 rebounds. Matt Barnes contributed 14 points and 7 rebounds for Los Angeles as well. On 8-12 shooting, including 5-7 from behind the arc, Jonas Jerebko put up 22 points off the bench for Detroit in the loss. He also registered 9 rebounds. Brandon Jennings chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds, Andre Drummond finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Greg Monroe put up 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Like the metrics suggested, the sweet-stroking offense of Los Angeles was able to scorch the nets (60.8% eFG%) against the bottom-tier defense of Detroit, which ranks third-worst in the league in eFG% defense at 51.8%. The Clippers recorded a sizzling eFG% of 60.8% and, on the season, are undefeated (14-0) when exceeding 60% in that statistic. Conversely, Detroit is winless (0-7) when opponents scorch the nets at that clip.

Detroit (25-44) has now dropped their last five straight games.

Coming up next, the Clippers square off against the Milwaukee Bucks, who are 13-56 on the year. The Pistons match up against the Utah Jazz, currently 23-47 this season. The Clippers have a 1-0 record against Milwaukee this season. The Pistons have a 0-1 record against Utah this season.
