Patriots get WR Salas from Rams

The New England Patriots acquired wide receiver Greg Salas from the St. Louis Rams for a late-round 2015 draft pick, ESPN.com reported Saturday.

Salas, a fourth-round draft pick last year, caught 27 passes for 264 yards for the Rams.

NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk speculated that the Rams may have been looking to waive Salas since they were willing to wait until 2015 to receive compensation. Also, the Patriots may have been willing to trade for him because they figured he would have been gobbled up by another team if waived.

Salas is reunited with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who held the same post with the Rams last season.
