Patriots sign former CFL DL Vega

Reports out of New England are that the Patriots have waived undrafted rookie TE Brad Herman and signed free-agent OL Mike Ingersoll.

Herman, an Iowa product who was signed by the team after the draft as a free agent, was carted off the field during one of the Patriots' OTA sessions on Thursday. He underwent surgery to repair an injured Achilles tendon and is expected to miss the entire 2012 season.

Ingersoll, 24, signed with the Chiefs in 2011 as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina. He moved to the Buccaneers' practice squad before being waived in May.
