New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo was docked $21,000 for unnecessary roughness during last Sunday's 20-18 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, ESPN Boston reported Friday. Mayo was fined was fined for his hit against Arizona defenseless wide receiver Early Doucet in the head and neck area. There was no penalty called on the play. Also, Patriots safety Steve Gregory was fined $7,875 for a late hit against tight end Todd Heap. A penalty was called against Gregory. Also on that play, linebacker Brandon Spikes was penalized for roughing Cardinals passer Kevin Kolb but was not fined.
