Julian Edelman was a receiving threat all day, but it wasn't enough to avoid a rough loss for the Patriots at the hands of the Broncos, 26-16 in Denver. With the loss, New England is knocked out of the playoffs.
Tom Brady found pay dirt two times (1 pass, 1 rush) on 24 of 38 passing for 277 yards and no interceptions. Peyton Manning also played quite well, and wound up 32 for 43 with 400 yards passing, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Shane Vereen ran for 34 yards on four attempts and had five receptions for 59 yards. Edelman was a top performer, snagging 10 balls for 89 yards with a touchdown.
The New England defense allowed 107 yards rushing and 400 passing.
Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was impressive, racking up 134 receiving yards and one touchdown. Tight end Julius Thomas also put together a noteworthy performance with 85 receiving yards.
