Panthers promote Shula to offensive coordinator

The Panthers signed DE-OLB Jyles Tucker to a one-year deal, Tucker's agent David Canter announced on Twitter.

Tucker did not play in the 2011 season after playing for the Chargers for four seasons. The Wake Forest grad had his most productive season in 2008, playing in 13 games with 12 starts and recording 37 tackles and 5½ sacks.

As a rookie, Tucker had 3½ sacks in six games. He played in three games in 2010 before suffering a season-ending pectoral injury.

He played for Carolina head coach Ron Rivera in San Diego when Rivera was the Chargers' defensive coordinator.
