The Panthers announced Friday that they have re-signed DE Antwan Applewhite.
Applewhite, a 6-3, 258-pound San Diego State product, played in 12 games with one start for Carolina in 2011 after being signed in October. Applewhite totaled 21 tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble.
He spent his first four NFL seasons (2007-10) with the Chargers after being signed by the team as an undrafted rookie free agent. He went to training camp with the 49ers in ’11 before being waived in the final roster cutdown.
For his career, Applewhite has tallied 88 tackles, 5½ sacks and three forced fumbles.
