After four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, center Jason Brown hit the jackpot during the 2009 free agent period to the tune of a five-year, $37.5 million contract—with $20 million in guarantees—with the St. Louis Rams.
But after three disappointing seasons in St. Louis, Brown was sent packing—reminding us all of the difficulties facing NFL front office personnel when evaluating the true worth of free agents.
The 28-year-old Brown is now a free agent and his first attempt to land another job will come in Carolina, where he’s scheduled to meet with the Panthers on Wednesday, per the Charlotte Observer.
Brown’s started every game but two over the last five years, but he’ll have to demonstrate more than durability if he wants another team to take a chance on him.
