Florida Panthers defenseman Erik Gudbranson had shoulder surgery late last week, the team announced Monday.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that Gudbranson was injured was hurt last week during an informal workout at the team's practice site in Coral Springs, Fla.
The team said the surgery was performed Sept. 6, but offered no recovery guidance. The paper offered the four-month timeframe.
Gudbranson, 20, the third overall pick in the 2010 draft, scored two goals and had six assists in 72 games as a rookie last season.
