Panthers ask OT Gross to adjust contract

Offensive tackle Jordan Gross has been asked to adjust his contract with the Carolina Panthers to bring the team into compliance with the salary cap before the league year officially begins on Tuesday.

The Panthers want the 32-year-old left tackle to reduce his cap figure of $11.7 million.

Carolina could adjust Gross' contract without reducing his total compensation. They've already done the same with center Ryan Kalil, safety Haruki Nakamura and tight end Greg Olsen.

Gross was a first-round pick in 2003 and has started a team-record 151 games.
