The Carolina Panthers made the decision to stick with Richard Rodgers as their special teams coach after he was promoted during the middle of last season.
He’s going to have a helping hand with plenty of experience. The Panthers announced this morning that Bruce DeHaven, previously the special teams coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, will be the assistant special teams coach.
DeHaven has worked in the NFL for 26 seasons and will be a good sounding board for Rodgers, who started last season as the assistant. Rodgers and Panthers coach Ron Rivera were teammates playing at Cal.
Carolina also hired Lance Taylor as an assistant wide receivers coach under recently promoted Ricky Proehl.
