Pitchers Tim Stauffer and Freddy Garcia signed minor-league deals with the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. Garcia's agreement includes a $1.3 million base salary with another $1.25 million in incentives. The 36-yuear-old posted a 5.20 ERA in 107 1/3 innings for the New York Yankees last season. With the Padres, he'll compete for a rotation spot with Anthony Bass, Eric Stults, Andrew Cashner and Tyson Ross. Stauffer pitched in one game in 2012, but missed the rest of the season with flexor tendon surgery. The 30-year-old posted a 3.73 ERA in 185 2/3 innings in 2011.
