Packers' Walden suspended one game by the league
Green Bay Packers linebacker Erik Walden was suspended for one game by the NFL on Tuesday as a result of an arrest last November.
Walden was charged following a dispute with his girlfriend, and he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges. He avoided jail time, but the league decided to punish him for what it considered a violation of the Personal Conduct Policy.
Walden will be suspended for the Packers' opening game of the season.
Walden was a free agent after last season, but he wound up re-signing with the Packers.
He started 15 games for the Packers in 2011 and had 60 tackles, although first-round pick Nick Perry figures to challenge him for a starting job this season.
Packers defensive end Mike Neal has been suspended four games by the league and defensive end Anthony Hargrove was suspended for eight games for his involvement in the Saints' bounty program.
