Week 16 fantasy rankings:

Packers shut Desmond Bishop down for season

National Football Post

The Green Bay Packers knew it was a bad injury when Desmond Bishop went down in the preseason opener against the San Diego Chargers.

Any hope the inside linebacker would return from a torn hamstring this season was extinguished today as the club made the decision to place the valuable performer on injured reserve. Bishop required surgery and will undergo a lengthy rehabilitation process.

The club also placed five other players on IR: running back Du'ane Bennett, tight end DeMarco Cosby, guard Ray Dominguez, defensive end Johnny Jones and wide receiver Shaky Smithson. Injuries have hit the defending NFC North champions hard as they also moved tight end Andrew Quarless and linebacker Frank Zombo to the reserve/physically unable to perform list. That means they are out until at least after Week 6.
