The Packers have released DE Anthony Hargrove, the club announced Friday.
Hargrove is facing an eight-game suspension for his role in the Saints’ bounty program and for reportedly lying to commissioner Roger Goodell.
Hargrove is entering his ninth season in the NFL. Last year with the Seahawks, he played in 15 games and recorded 18 tackles and three sacks. He has 19½ sacks in his career, including five with the Saints in 2009.
He joined the Packers this offseason before the suspension was handed down. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, defensive line coach Mike Trgovac appeared to be upset with Hargrove during Tuesday’s practice, though Hargrove said there was no issue.
In addition, the Packers waived WR Andrew Brewer, S Micah Pellerin, OT Herb Taylor and CB Dion Turner.
Howard Balzer of 101Sports.com first reported Hargrove's release.
