Packers' Matthews has broken thumb

GREEN BAY, Wisc. -- All-Pro outside linebacker Clay Matthews has a fractured thumb and the Green Bay Packers are uncertain of his status for Week 6 at Baltimore.

Matthews left Sunday's game in the third quarter, which ended with Matthews sacking Detroit Lions quarterback Matt Stafford. On the play, Matthews fractured his thumb.

The Packers were playing without outside linebacker Nick Perry (ankle) on the other side.

If both players miss next week's game against the Ravens, Green Bay could be down to Andy Mulumba, an undrafted free agent rookie, and sixth-round pick Nate Palmer. Defensive end Mike Neal played outside linebacker in the fourth quarter Sunday.
