Drew Brees passed for multiple touchdowns, leading the way to a rout for the Saints over the hapless Cowboys, 49-17, at home.
An exceptional performance for Brees was capped by four touchdowns on 34 of 41 passing for 392 yards and no interceptions. On the Cowboys side, Tony Romo did not fare as well on the night, going 10 of 24 with 128 yards passing, one touchdown and no interceptions.
Mark Ingram was a key factor for the Saints, running all over the Cowboys for 145 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown in addition to two receptions for 15 yards. Marques Colston was a weapon for the offense, catching seven balls for 107 yards with a touchdown.
The New Orleans defense also played a big part in the victory, limiting the Cowboys to 89 yards rushing and 128 passing. They brought down Romo for three sacks.
Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray gave a standout effort with 89 yards rushing and one touchdown.
The Saints will play host to the 49ers (6-3) next week while the Cowboys head to East Rutherford to face off with the Giants (3-6).
