New Orleans Saints

For many reasons, some obvious and others not so obvious, the 2012 New Orleans Saints may be looking forward to the start of preseason more than any team in NFL history. From the bounty scandal and wiretapping charges to the Drew Brees contract dispute, fans can't wait to put this offseason in the past.

The 2012 preseason will also be important for interim head coach Joe Vitt to get acclimated to making decisions on the Saints' sidelines. The defense needs to learn Steve Spagnuolo's system in the preseason. And I am anxious to see the new linebackers play in preseason games.

Take a closer look at a detailed preview of the 2012 New Orleans Saints preseason schedule.

8/5/2012: New Orleans Saints vs. Arizona Cardinals: 7:00 CT

The 2012 preseason begins with the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, OH. The highlight of the festivities will be Saints T Willie Roaf being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. New Orleans is 1-3 in Hall of Fame Games.

8/9/2012: New Orleans Saints at New England Patriots: 6:30 CT

I'm sure NFL "haters" will love this preseason game. After practicing together, the Saints will face the Patriots in what some may call the "Gate Bowl." However, a federal judge may rule there was no bounty program after all.

8/17/2012: Jacksonville Jaguars at New Orleans Saints: 7:00 CT

The Saints will finally play in the Superdome on August 17. The Jaguars will be using the 2012 preseason to make hard decisions at QB now that they've brought in Chad Henne to compete with Blaine Gabbert.

8/25/2012: Houston Texans at New Orleans Saints: 7:00 CT

This preseason game will be televised nationally on CBS. The second-to-last preseason game is typically when the starters get the most playing time. This should be a fun preseason game as both teams field great offenses.

8/30/2012: New Orleans Saints at Tennessee Titans: 6:00 CT

Hopefully, QB Drew Brees will have shaken off his rust and the defensive starters will have learned the new defense by August 30 because none of them are likely to play much in the 2012 preseason finale against the Titans.
