New Orleans Hornets win right to pick first in NBA Draft
In an upset, the New Orleans Hornets received the right to make the first overall pick in the June 28 NBA Draft, when they won Wednesday's draft lottery.
The Hornets had the fourth-best chance to get the top pick. It will be the second time the organization will have the No. 1 overall pick.
The second pick will be made by the Charlotte Bobcats, the third pick by the Washington Wizards.
The Cleveland Cavaliers pick fourth, despite having the third-best chance to get the top pick. The Sacramento Kings pick fifth. The Brooklyn Nets sixth pick will go to Portland as part of the Gerald Wallace trade.
The Golden State Warriors are seventh and the Toronto Raptors eighth.
The Detroit Pistons will select ninth, the New Orleans Hornets pick again at 10, and Portland will pick again in the 11th slot.
The Milwaukee Bucks are 12th, Phoenix Suns 13th and Houston Rockets 14th.
The Charlotte Bobcats had the highest chance of landing the top pick. After going 7-59 during the regular season, the Bobcats had a 25 percent chance, but they couldn't win that, either.
Washington was second, with a 19.9 percent chance. Cleveland was third, with a 13.8 percent chance. The Houston Rockets had the lowest chance, 0.5 percent.
Fourteen teams were in the draft lottery.
Kentucky center Anthony Davis is anticipated to be the No. 1 pick.
