Orioles place Andino on DL; add Britton, Bergesen

Second baseman Robert Andino was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Orioles and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks after suffering a left shoulder subluxation attempting to dive for a ball against Detroit on Sunday.

The move is retroactive to July 16. Andino is hitting .230 with five home runs and 21 RBI in 79 games, and Steve Tolleson and Ryan Flaherty will share time in his absence.

Left-hander Zach Britton and right-hander Brad Bergesen were added to the roster from Class AAA Norfolk, with right-hander Miguel Socolovich optioned to Norfolk, while first baseman Nick Johnson was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. He has been out since June 28 with a right wrist injury.

Britton has been at Norfolk since being activated from the disabled list (left shoulder impingement) on June 6, and went 4-1 with a 4.15 ERA in eight starts.

Bergesen pitched 22 games at Norfolk this season with 10 starts, going 4-3 with a 4.03 ERA. He had a 2.89 ERA in 12 games in relief.

Socolovich was called up on Saturday and made his major league debut against Detroit that day. He gave up four runs in four innings over two appearances.
