NEW YORK -- Adam Jones hit a two-run homer with one out in the top of the ninth inning off Mariano Rivera as the Baltimore Orioles rallied for a 2-1 victory over the New York Yankees on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees were two outs from extending their season-high winning streak to seven games and winning their first 1-0 game over the Orioles since the penultimate game at old Yankee Stadium on Sept. 20, 2008.

Rivera (1-2), who blew his second save this season, almost gave up a tying home run to Nick Markakis, but a line drive down the right field line hooked foul at the last second. Markakis then got his third hit, a line-single up the middle, ensuring that -- barring a double play -- major league home run leader Chris Davis would come up at least as the potential go-ahead run.

Instead, Jones sent an 0-1 fastball into the left-center field seats, stunning the crowd.

Darren O'Day (5-0) picked up the win, getting the final two outs in the eighth, after Troy Patton and T.J. McFarland combined on 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Jim Johnson rebounded from blowing a save on Friday to pick up his 30th save of the season.

Rivera's first blown save at home in 42 attempts spoiled an efficient outing from Hiroki Kuroda, who had his turn pushed back two days because of a sore left hip flexor. Kuroda scattered three hits while throwing 88 pitches in seven innings.

Eduardo Nunez drove in the lone run for the Yankees, who have lost six of their last eight games against Baltimore. He lifted a sacrifice fly in the second, scoring rookie Zoilo Almonte, who had reached third on a hit-and-run single by Lyle Overbay.

NOTES: New York SS Derek Jeter (ankle) was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in his second rehab game for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. On Saturday, he played five innings in the field and Sunday was the designated hitter, though he fielded several ground balls in pregame infield practice. ... The Yankees claimed INF Travis Ishikawa off waivers from Baltimore and transferred 3B Kevin Youkilis to the 60-day disabled list. Ishikawa had been designated for assignment by the Orioles on June 29. ... The Philadelphia Phillies had their director of player development and the assistant director of player development attend Double-A Trenton's game and the Yankee had a scout in Philadelphia. The Yankees have been linked to Michael Young and Carlos Ruiz in recent trade rumors. ... Baltimore LHP Wei-Yi Chen is expected to come off the DL and likely pitch Tuesday or Wednesday against Texas. Chen, who has been out since mid-May with an oblique injury, threw a 43-pitch bullpen session on Saturday.
