Orioles 11, Yankees 3

BALTIMORE -- Chris Davis homered twice and tied a season-high with five RBIs as the Orioles handed the New York Yankees their fourth consecutive loss, 11-3, Saturday night at Camden Yards.

Davis hit a three-run homer in the first off starter David Phelps (5-5) and belted a two-run shot off Ivan Nova in the sixth inning. Davis now has three multihomer games this season. The first time was on May 29 against the Nationals. He also performed the feat on June 19 against the Tigers.

The first baseman also scored three times and now has 30 homers and 79 RBIs one game past the halfway point of Baltimore's season.

The Orioles (46-36) finished the night with three homers as Ryan Flaherty blasted a three-run homer in the third inning off Phelps, who gave up nine runs on nine hits in just 2 1/3 innings as the Orioles jumped out to an early 9-0 lead.

Baltimore pounded out 15 hits en route to its third straight win. Six starters got at least two hits as the Orioles now have won five of their eight games versus New York (42-38) this season.

Starter Zach Britton (2-2) got the win, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing two runs on six hits. He blanked the Yankees until they got sixth-inning runs on a Zoilo Almonte sacrifice fly and a Davis error.

Jair Jurrjens, called up earlier in the day from Triple-A Norfolk, gave Baltimore a strong effort in relief of Britton. The right-hander threw 2 1/3 shutout innings.

New York threatened in the top of the first, loading the bases on consecutive two-out singles from Robinson Cano, Vernon Wells and Ichiro Suzuki. Almonte then lined a shot to right and right fielder Nick Markakis made a running catch in front of the scoreboard to end the inning.

The Orioles got off to a better start in their half of the inning when Manny Machado and Markakis had back-to-back one-out singles. Adam Jones then drove in Machado with a single.

Davis followed with a three-run homer to left. He blasted a 2-1 pitch from Phelps into the Baltimore bullpen to give the Orioles a 4-0 lead.

The Orioles batted around in the first, getting the four runs and six hits overall.

Two innings later, they caused more trouble in a similar manner.

Baltimore loaded the bases with one out before Chris Dickerson lined a two-run single to center. Flaherty followed with a long three-run homer to right that ended Phelps' night and gave the Orioles a 9-0 lead.

Phelps came into this game undefeated in his last nine starts against American League East opponents. He was 4-0 with a 3.91 ERA during that stretch. ... Yankees manager Joe Girardi's next win will be the 600th of his career. He won 78 with the Marlins and has 521 victories with New York.
