Oregon moves up to No. 2 in polls

The University of Oregon passed LSU for the No. 2 spot in the Associated Press and USA Today college football polls released Sunday.

Oregon, which defeated previously unbeaten Arizona 49-0 on Saturday, received no first-place votes, but recorded 1,414 total votes in the AP media poll. That was 68 more than LSU, which received one first-place vote. The Ducks did not get any first-place votes in the coaches' poll either.

Alabama remained the No. 1 team in both polls for the third consecutive week.

The rest of the AP top 10 is Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina, Kansas State, Stanford, West Virginia and Notre Dame. The top six were identical in the USA Today poll.

No. 13 USC remained the highest ranked team with one loss.

Kansas State and Oregon State were the biggest gainers this week. Kansas State climbed to No. 7 in the AP poll and No. 8 in the coaches poll after winning 24-19 at previously No. 6 Oklahoma. Oregon State entered the AP poll at No. 18 and is No. 21 in the USA Today poll after winning at UCLA 27-20.
