The SportsXchange

Do not adjust the television set -- those Oregon Ducks helmets are indeed highlighter pink.

Oregon's Nike-sponsored uniform collection is vast if not easy on the eyes, and expanding by one very loud color combination Saturday against Washington State.

The apparel company operated by Oregon alumnus Phil Knight revealed the Ducks would don neon pink helmets with a forest green "O" logo and pink gloves, cleats and socks in support of breast cancer awareness month.

At least 25 helmets are to be auctioned off including a set autographed by Oregon great Dan Fouts, Ahmad Rashad, Joey Harrington and Knight.

Proceeds will benefit scientific research, Nike said. Funds raised will be contributed o the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

"Cancer has touched so many lives and hopefully, together with Nike and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, we can help create awareness and help raise money for the fight against women's cancers," Oregon coach Mark Helfrich said in a statement. "It is an honor to join coach Yow's team in a fight that unites us all."
