TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) Kyle O'Quinn's layup with 2.4 seconds left gave Norfolk State a 72-70 win over Toledo on Tuesday night.
The Spartans (8-5) saw a 13-point lead with 8:52 to play evaporate as the Rockets (7-4) tied it at 70 with 34 seconds left on Rian Pearson's jumper.
After Brandon Wheeless missed a layup for Norfolk State, DeLino Dear rebounded, but stepped out of bounds with 4 seconds to play. After O'Quinn scored off an inbound pass from Pendarvis Williams, Toledo couldn't get off a shot.
The win was the first for the Spartans in three tries against Mid-American Conference opposition and gave them five nonconference Division I wins this season, the most since joining Division I in 1997-98.
Williams led Norfolk State with 17 points, O'Quinn had 16 and Chris McEachin 15.
Curtis Dennis scored a career-high 20 points in his second game for the Rockets after transferring from New Mexico.
