OPINION: Do the Ravens have an edge with Steelers’ suspensions?

I woke up this morning and heard my local news report that, Le’Veon Bell is possibly facing a four game suspension for missing several mandatory drug tests. I immediately asked myself, do the Ravens have an edge with Bell’s suspension?

Missing a mandatory drug test is a violation of the NFL’s drug policy, which will not be Bell’s first time.

Bell served a two game suspension in 2015 after being pulled over by police outside of Pittsburgh in Ross Township. Bell was arrested with former teammate LeGarrette Blount on charges of DUI and a small amount of marajuana in his possession.

Bell could be the second player for the Steelers facing suspension in 2016. Martavis Bryant was suspended the entire 2016 season, for violating the NFL’s drug policy for his second violation.

These suspensions could affect the outcome of the Ravens and Steelers rivalry, as well as the division standings with the Cincinnati Bengals. It’s Bryant’s second drug violation as well, and the Steelers presumably are not happy.

Bell has an up hill battle dealing with a major knee injury in consecutive years and what could be his second NFL drug policy violation.

A second drug violation to go along with two major knee surgeries, will hurt Bell’s image and contract negotiations with the Steelers.

How much will Martavis Bryant’s one year suspension and possible four game suspension to Le’Veon Bell, effect the Baltimore Ravens in 2016? Will the 2016 Ravens take advantage and bounce back from an injury plagued 5-11 season? With a long 16 game season ahead, only time will tell.
