  • The U.S. has a 4-2-1 record against Canada in Olympic qualifying. The last time they met, also at LP Field, the host for this upcoming match, two goals from Fredy Adu helped the USA to a 3-0 win in 2008.

  • Adu, captain of the U.S. team, scored four goals total in 2008 Olympic qualifying. The Philadelphia Union attacker has 55 youth national team appearances in total: 15 with the U-17s, 33 with the U-20s and seven with the U-23s. Including two senior national team strikes, Adu has 39 international goals in total.
  • Adu is one of four players in the U.S. roster to have played in both the U-17 and U-20 World Cups. The others are Jared Jeffrey, Brek Shea and Sheanon Williams. Thirteen players have appeared in at least one.

  • MLS contributed 14 players to the U.S. roster. The six based outside the United States are Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Mix Diskerud (Gent), Joe Gyau (Hoffenheim), Jared Jeffrey (Mainz), Tony Taylor (Estoril Praia) and Terrence Boyd (Borussia Dortmund).
  • Seven players from the Canada U-23 roster are on MLS teams: Babayele Sodade (Seattle Sounders FC), Doneil Henry and Matt Stinson (Toronto FC), Bryce Alderson and Russell Teibert (Vancouver Whitecaps) and Carl Haworth and Evan James (Montreal Impact).
  • In the opening matches of Group A, the U.S. trounced Cuba 6-0 with Joe Corona scoring a hat trick. Canada drew 0-0 with El Salvador. With a win on Saturday, the Americans can progress to the semifinal round. All games will be on the Universal Sports Network, Mun2 and CONCACAF.com.
  • "It's a pretty big rivalry, so we're not taking it lightly," Perry Kitchen said ahead of the matchup.
