South Korea qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games by topping Group A in Round 3 of the Men's Asian Qualifiers, with three wins, three draws and no losses.
Mexico also qualified for London 2012 on the strength of an unblemished record, as it won all five matches played in the CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament, clinching a spot by beating Canada 3-1, and then crowning its efforts by beating Honduras 2-1 in the final.
South Korea will be looking to improve on its 1948 and 1984 outings in the Olympic Games, as it made the quarterfinals on both occasions - the nation's best results.
Mexico will return to the games for the first time since 2004, when it was unable to get past the group stage.
Both teams have played each other before in Olympic football. The 1948 games pitted the South Koreans and Mexicans together in the preliminary round, where the Red Devils beat El Tri by a score of 5-3.
