Are you a lady angler that knows her way around a fishing pier? If so, you may want to make plans to attend the Old Salt and Bill Currie Ford Inshore-Offshore Ladies' Fishing Tournament. It is scheduled to take place in August 2012. Here are a few more details:
Fishing Tournament Basics
The Old Salt and Bill Currie Ford Inshore-Offshore Ladies' Fishing Tournament is slated to take place Thursday, August 23, 2012 through Saturday, August 25, 2012 in Madeira Beach, Florida. It is geared towards women anglers.
During the tournament, participating ladies will be permitted to fish in a variety of areas. Designated fishing areas are expected to include the Gulf of Mexico and all waters between Cedar Keys and Naples. Targeted species include, but are not limited to, amberjack, redfish, trout, snapper and grouper.
A gala event is expected to kick off the ladies' fishing tournament at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012. It is expected to take place at the Madeira Beach Marina. The opening gala is slated to include entertainment, auctions, a raffle and an exhibition area.
The actual fishing is expected to take place on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Madeira Beach Marina. Participating anglers are anticipated to wet their lines at 12 a.m. Weigh-in is slated to take place on Saturday afternoon, at the marina, from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m.
How to Register
Lady anglers interesting in fishing in the tournament must pre-register and remit an entry fee. Entry fees vary based on the time of sign up and membership status. Old Salt Fishing Foundation members and early birds may expect to pay the lowest entry fees. Registration may be completed via the fishing tournament's website.
About the Venue
For lady anglers not familiar with the Madeira Beach Marina, it is located on 150th Avenue in Madeira Beach. It is a municipal marina that offers anglers access to boat fuel, boat slip rentals, pump out services, bait and tackle. Boaters should expect to find the marina near Green Marker 9. Anglers that prefer to spend the night on dry land will find suitable lodging and dining establishments nearby.
As of Friday, July 27, 2012, the coastal water temperature near Madeira Beach was reputedly in the high 80s (Fahrenheit). Lady anglers may expect the coastal water temperatures to remain high throughout the fishing tournament. I should also mention that a first quarter moon is anticipated to occur on Friday, August 24, 2012. As the fishing tournament draws closer, additional tidal and buoy information for the Madeira Beach area may be obtained through the NOAA's website.
Killeen Gonzalez enjoys fishing with her family. She has also traveled extensively.
