NORFOK, Va. (AP) -- Keenan Palmore scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed seven rounds to lead Old Dominion past Presbyterian, 69-51, in an opening round Cancun Challenge tournament game Thursday.
Palmore, who shot 10 of 13 from the floor, led four Monarchs in double figures. Richard Ross and Aaron Bacota had 14 and 13 points, respectively, and Dimitri Batten added 11.
Jordan Downing led the Blue Hose with 18 points. Reggie Dillard added 13 and Danny Herrera 10.
Old Dominion opened the game with a 17-2 run and ever looked back, taking a 45-22 lead into intermission.
First- and second-round games in the Cancun Challenge tournament are held at home team sites in the U.S. before the eight-team field travels to Mexico for two more games, with champions crowned in two divisions. Georgia Southern plays at Old Dominion (3-1) Saturday and Presbyterian (1-4) plays at West Virginia.
