OLB Neal staying in Green Bay

The SportsXchange

Outside linebacker Mike Neal said via Twitter that he will be staying in Green Bay.

The Packers did not confirm signing the unrestricted free agent.

"Hi Green Bay!!! I'll enjoy your winters for two more years!!," Neal wrote Wednesday afternoon.

Limited by knee and shoulder injuries in his first three seasons, Neal developed into a powerful, if unconventional, pass rusher off the edge when he converted from defensive end to outside linebacker.

Neal was originally a second-round draft pick (56th overall) out of Purdue in 2010.

The Packers had not signed a player from another team in the first two days of free agency but general manager Ted Thompson stayed true to form in working to retain players from his own roster.

Monday, the Packers hammered out a four-year, $39 million deal with cornerback Sam Shields.
